Using data to tell the story of how the public transport undertakings are performing in India!
Buses take up over 90 percent of public transport in Indian cities! It is important to understand the performance of State Road Transport Undertakings (SRTUs). How their operational and financial performances? How do we ensure increased ridership of using public transport in our cities? How does innovation in public transport make our commute easier and enjoyable? And how do these choices impact our health and our economy?
Association of Road Transport Undertaking in partnership with EMBARQ – WRI India, with support from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, is launching a Public Transport Data Visualization Challenge at the inaugural International Conference and Exhibition on Public Transport Innovation (ICEPTI). The Challenge asks students, researchers, planners, engineers, designers, data scientists, and civil society to use a mobility performance dataset to create meaningful visualizations that answer the question: How are State Road Transport Undertakings performing in India?
Top entries will be displayed and seen by over 1000 transport professionals and officials at the International Conference and Exhibition on Public Transport Innovation on August 13 & 14, 2015 in New Delhi.
Three winners will be selected by an eminent panel of jurors and will receive their awards at the Conference by the Honourable Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri. Nitin Gadkari. The winning entries will be widely distributed and seen by thousands of people. The application deadline is August 5, 2015.
