Director, Sustainable Cities & Transport


Rejeet is Director, Sustainable Cities & Transport at EMBARQ - WRI India. Having worked with the organisation for over 3 years Rejeet has contributed to policy, plans and projects at the intersection of sustainable transportation, urban planning and urban design. She has project managed efforts such as Improving Pedestrian Accessibility in MIDC Mumbai, Naya Raipur Walkable Sector Design, Hubli Dharwad Transit Oriented Development, Parking Regulations to Influence the Mumbai Development Plan and Public Space Design at Manek Chowk in Ahmadabad. 

Her current focus addresses the inter - related dynamics of statutory acts and legislation, the urbanization process, land procurement and development mechanisms and understanding macro and micro economic spatial development trends. With a focus to ensure change on the ground, she helps form and sustain partnerships with various government agencies involved with urban development to mainstream sustainable urban and regional development.  

Rejeet has previously in her consulting career held key responsibilities such as project manager and project coordinator on projects that range in scale from metropolitan region plans, city master plans, detailed project reports, feasibility studies, urban design, and micro level plans and architecture. Her work has predominantly been in Indian cities with further project related experience in Libya, Sri Lanka and France and she was also part of a university exchange studio in Karachi, Pakistan.  

Rejeet has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Vishweshwaraiah Technological University (M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, India) and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
